Hi All,

I would like to inquire my situation my Boyfriend and I (were same sex) meet on online dating site (January'2014) then we became a couple on (August 5,2014) and meet on February'2015 (he stays 2 weeks). on February'2016 we decided to apply for a B1\B2 Visa. which I denied. the consul ask me like "What is the purpose of your visit?" I said to visit a friend. then she ask me "Where did you meet your friends?" I said "Online dating site- whichj I mentioned to her" then she told me that it is impossible to visit my friend.

then on My Birthday (October'2016) My boyfriend proposed a marriage to me and we are planning to married. last December 30'2016 my Boyfriend send the I29F to the USCIS and got a reply on January 13,2017 informing that they already got the packet.

its been like more 29 days or 1 month we havent receive any info about the status of our application. my Boyfriend is in Pennsylvania  USA.

any thought on why we are waiting this too long? unlike others timeline they got NOA1 and NOA2 in less than a month..

Appreciate your help..

Thank you!

It is never guaranteed how long will it take to get approved but I would say no news is good news for now :) If you got your NOA1 and no RFE's then all you can do is wait. You b/f can call USCIS and check the status just in case you guys missed something in mail but I doubt they can give you more info on when you will get an answer.

Good luck :)

My received date is 1/2/2017 (just before you) and I have not received any status updates yet either. I have been following the November filers thread, where people are currently seem to be getting processed, so I expect maybe a few more weeks or a month or more before I am likely to get any update.

One concern I see in your original post is whether you have met in person again since February 2014? Because I believe the K-1 app requires that you have met in person *within the last 2 years*. If you applied in December 2016, you should have submitted proof that you have been together in person some time after December 2014.

Sorry, I just realized I misread the date, and you visited in Feb 2015. Carry on!

Best luck to you,

Ali

Also don't forget - he is your FIANCÉ now, you should stop calling him your boyfriend! :)

I have heard (anecdotally) of cases that got denied in the interview because someone called their partner their boyfriend instead of fiancé, so be careful!
