Changing jobs while AOS is pending?

Probably not — as the petitioner you're responsible for the financial well-being of your beneficiary. As long as you meet the minimum guidelines with the job change, there shouldn't be any issues. If your I-864 has already been approved, there's not much you need to do but if an AOS interview does happen you might want to bring documents as backup.

Basically the I-864 is you saying that your beneficiary will not become a public charge and that you are responsible for their financial well-being until they are a U.S. citizen.

Sorry I couldn't see a timeline (I'm also on an iPhone, not everything on this site is shown to mobile users) and assumed you're already in on a K-1 (sometimes K-1 do not need to do an AOS interview) but my guess is since you mentioned I-130 you're currently abroad. Yes you'll still have an interview.

Hi, my wife and I are fixing to file for AOS. I am in the process of changing jobs, and have already left my previous job, and will start new one in several weeks. I have filed my 2016 taxes, and have made way over poverty line, but with me not starting new job for several weeks, how should I answer the form asking about my employment? Or should we wait till I start my new job? The new job I will be making more than previous job, so no worries there, so how should I answer the question about employment on the form, and what should we do?

Hello there,

I'm wondering if @ariz2016 had any issues regarding the job change.

My wife (beneficiary) and I are still waiting to receive the letter with the interview date for the AOS - we are aware that this will only happen months from now, even though that update showed up on the USCIS case status check in November.

I have switched jobs to a new company this month, and I am wondering if I need to notify USCIS about this change while we are in this waiting period.

Other relevant info: wife has received EAD-SSN combo + AP already.

Thanks for your help!

Victor
