I just want to ask if the TD/MMR jabs have to be done within a certain time.

Say, for example, my medical is the 1st November 2007 and I have had my jabs 1st April 2007. Because they'd be 6 months old (so any "certificate" would also be 6 months old) by the time the medical came around would I have to have them done again?

Also the same question applies for the Police Certificate.. If it's done now would it have to be re-done closer to the time of the medical/interview etc?

Vaccinations can be done at any point in time!!! The MMR is something that most people get when they are babies and it is still valid now! Most of the vaccinations they require you may already have, and if you don't, there is not time limit. The only one that expires is Tetanus and that takes 10 years! Go ahead and get all of your vaccines if you want.

You should look here: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/...ccinechart.html to see which vaccinations you are required to get. And definitely definitely first check with your GP who should have records of the shots you have already had. My fiance has had all of the shots he needs -but his GP in Australia doesn't have record of them- so, he has to get them again.

As for the police check, you are probably better off waiting until your NOA2 to get that. Your NOA2 will take at least a month (depending on which service centre you are at). I can't remember if the police checks are good for 6 months or 12 months but either way...it only takes MAXIMUM 40 days to get one in the UK so you might as well wait until you at least get your NOA2.

Hope this helped!

I had my MMR as a kid and I had a Tetanus injection at school about 4-5yrs ago (I'm 19 now) so I wont need them again then unless my GP doesn't have the records. He probably wont knowing my luck. I've turned 19 now so I wont need the Hep B jab either which makes me happy :D I just hope my GP has updated records about myself... I hate needles ;_; The less pokingofmyskin the better!

And yeah, I'll wait until I get that far down the line before I apply for a Police Check then :)

Thanks :D

I've been researching about the police checks too. I haven't foundd any official statement anywhere about how long the document is valid for, still looking - but all the FAQ's sections on police websites say it takes 40 days to process.

I have discovered though that you need to fill in the forms from your local police authority. It's no good sending your forms to the MET if you've never lived in London for instance. So i'll be sending mine to the Heddlu de Cymru (Welsh police), even though i've also lived in England.

To my knowledge, the police cert is valid for a year. Can't remember where I read that.

Oh and here's the link to use for the form for London:

For the vaccines you could make an appointment with the nurse and she'll help you, and also get a record of your vaccines.

I was 20 at the time of my medical and for some reason they still made me have my Hep B shot

Yeah I have no idea why they made you do that! Dave has his medical next Tuesday and an appointment with his GP to get the vaccines on Wednesday. He called the Medical people today to ask if this was okay (seeing as how online a lot of you are saying that London seems to be crazy with the vaccines). They said that as long as he faxed them his vaccination records within 4 days of his medical (cause it takes that long for his blood work to come back) that that will be fine. He also asked about him needing the Hep B (he's 27) and they said no. So HOPEFULLY they will stick to their work when he goes to the medical!

Great info fwaguy!

Mine took so long to come in.

Marina + Dave, I'm sure that'll be fine then, maybe I was close to the age so she just thought she'd might aswell make me have it? Or perhaps like mags said once, I was looking youthful that day and they didn't look at the date of birth!

Getting my vaccine history was easy, just a print out from the docs!

Well I've definitely had my MMR jab as a kid and a Tetanus shot within the past 6yrs so if it says that on my records then I'm FREE FROM NASTY INJECTIONS! ;)

I'd had my MMR also, but apparently I hadn't had ALL of the second one so had to have it again ;)

but you will need the vaccine print out anyway for the nurse to see at the medical.
