DS-160 Panic attack Please help

Hi everyone. I've been having a panic attack, and am at a complete loss for what to do. I have been trying to bring my fiancee to the USA on a K1 visa for almost a year now. We have filed all of the necessary paperwork, and she just turned in her DS-160 to the consulate in Guangzhou. She is preparing to set an interview date, however I noticed that she has made an error on her DS-160 even though it has already been accepted.

On the Security and Background form of the DS-160, their is a question that asks "Are you a member of or affiliated with the Communist or other totalitarian party?: Yes or No?" I believe she accidentally marked it as “No”. However, while in China during University, she did become a party member towards the middle of her senior year. She has never been very politically active, nor has she held a government job. She stopped paying her membership fees shortly after graduating, and it has been a year since she graduated. She believes that after 6 months of not paying membership fees, she would be dropped from the party. However, she is not technically sure if she is still a member or not. I am worried that the fact that she marked "No" on the form could become an issue? Should I ask her to contact the embassy to correct the information on her behalf? Or is that attracting unnecessary attention? What should I do to ensure that she is still able to be approved in a timely manner? Will the fact that she was previously turned down for a tourist visa for unknown reasons affect any of this as well?

I'm really upset about this and have been working non stop to try and bring her here. She is about to set her interview time, but I do not know what to do. I am horrified that this could affect the process. Please advise and help!

I would just ignore it.  If she would of marked "yes" chances are they would denied the visa.

Wouldn't it come up in the interview? or the background check?

Only if she used information such like her identification number to join the party.  If she only had her name and number it will not show on the background check. I am seeing this like a club that we join while in a university.

So just talked to her a few minutes ago. She did apparently do "University club version", but upon graduating made it into "Real Adult Version" However, she never submitted the required documents to her hometown to move her official membership to her "home club" and stopped paying membership fees. She told me she has not paid a fee in months, she never submittded some of the required documentation, and she hasnt been contaced by the party since graduating. With this new information, it seems like she is ok, and that we filled the form out correctly i think. I don't know if she used any identificaion number, but I do know that she no longer considers herself a communist, hasn't paid since graduating, hasn't submitted required documentation, and hasn't been contacted. I appreciate the response. Do you think with the added information we are ok?

So it seems it literally was a panic attack lol. After speaking with her more, it seems pretty obvious to me that she is no longer a member. Seems like everything will continue to go smoothly. Hopefully we will be together again soon. Being apart has taken a literal physical toll on my health, and I look forward to being together again soon!

I think you shouldn't mention it unless asked during the interview. But good luck!!!
