Did tracking the status work in the past?

 

I've only seen that either when 1) the receipt number you provided was incorrect (i.e. you misread/mistyped it), or 2) their system is having issues. Try it again, and also try waiting a day to see if it resolves itself.

Ah. Well yes, that's not normal. You should be seeing *something*. They likely either sent you the wrong number, or it's being entered incorrectly or something. Does it start with something like EAC? You should probably call the service center and verify the receipt number.

 

Luckily, it sounds like you got your NOA1, so your mailing address is correct. As such, you should be receiving any notices via mail when there's a change in the status.

It varies based on every individual case, the beneficiary's country, the embassy/consulate, etc. A *rough* estimate is 12-18 months for I-130. See here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/ir1cr1historical. That said, the service centers are backed up right now, so those may be on the low side. Treat those as minimums.

Thanks everyone for your help. I just got letter today that the petition has been approved. It states that I should wait 30 days, within that time NVC will contact me. What is my next step from here? Is there anything I can do on my end to expedite the process?
