So I called USCIS to question about my I-485 which was received by them on September 18, 2006. It still has not been approved. An RFE was sent out (not to us, apparently it was sent to the FBI doing background checks). They received a response on November 16 for this request. The woman on the phone told me that they are currently working on August marriage based I-485's. She said that my was reopened on November 16, so my petition will resume work when the processing dates get to November. I don't understand their logic behind this. My petition was sent in during the month of September. Just because they didn't receive a response until November from the FBI for the name checks shouldn't mean that I have to wait until November for it to continue being filed. I'm SO angry about this. Patrick's work permit expires next November. We will be refiling for his work permit before he ever gets a green card. I'm frustrated at the amount of money this is costing. It's unnecessary. Just needed to vent. Sorry!

Seriously? That's so wierd. I can't believe it. It's frustrating when you do everything right, but you still get stuck 'cos someone at USCIS didn't do their job.

Don't take anything told to you by the USCIS hotline at face value. Sorry you're waiting, but the most obvious reason will be that you haven't passed FBI namecheck yet.

Sometimes they just take forever, depending on where you filed etc.

I am waiting since January 06 and haven't seen a thing last time touched was in Oct 06 and the hotline tells me exactly what I can read online.

It's just so unfair that someone on here filed their AOS in December and was approved by February. I know ... unfair is a silly word to use since the whole process has seemed unfair. I'm a teacher and when I hear my students use that word I say the only things in life that are fair are County Fairs and State Fairs.

It would be interestiing to see if you get your greencard aproximately around the time they stated. IE processing with November submittance. I found this concept pretty interesting if accurate at all. As far as fair - it could always be a LOT worse! :star:

Tell me about it. I always feel so whiny when it comes to others' problems.
