Okay, so we've had the threads talking about all of the wonderful things regarding the UK and the things we really miss etc etc. How about things you DON'T miss or can't wait to see the back of?

Me? The London Underground and the buses in the Summer months. 100f+ temps, no air at all, clothes all stuck to your legs....ick. Don't miss it AT ALL. The buses were even worse, little greenhouses on wheels, they really were!

So, what about you? :D

English complaining how bad they have it.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Really? Maybe west coast bacon is decent, but the east coast stuff is rubbish - it's 90% fat. Give me British bacon any day.

That's a matter of opinion my dear! Personally I find American bacon to be terrible unless you really are picky and shop around. Too much fat, not enough meat, and back bacon doesn't exist at all!

West coast bacon is exactly the same as East coast bacon, believe me!

I'm going to agree with the British bacon being fabulous. USA bacon is actually streaky bacon, which is a poor man's bacon in the UK. Tends to only be used with roast dinners. All fat and no meat, in fact, it should be labelled "fatty", not bacon! Cause that is all it is in the US...

Back bacon is wonderful, makes a GORGEOUS bacon sarnie. Can't do that with crispy streaky bacon. Plus it has sh!t loads of sugar in it in the USA. Nope, UK bacon should be on the "most missed" list, not the "most disliked" list IMO!

So's your comment about "violence" - 'cause we're super peaceful over here?!?!

Even "streaky bacon" in England is limp and lacking in the crispness that makes Bacon worthwhile. Back bacon unites the worst aspects of Canadian bacon (which is closer to slices of ham) and American bacon. Nasty, nasty stuff.

And wasn't the point of this thread opinions anyway?

And there's no east-coast, west-coast bacon divide that I know of here in the States. We save east-coast/west-coast division for important things like wars between hip-hop music labels. and pizza.

Customer service or lack thereof

I whole heartedly agree with not missing Ken Livingstone !!! What a complete to$$er that man is.

I too do not miss the tube at all (summer or winter), especially the extremes of temperature, and the over packed carriages. I certainly do not miss office life and trying to grab a sandwich on Oxford Street in London without being trampled by the masses. A few other things I am glad to see the back of are: annoying teens with hoodies and fake Louis Vuitton bags, anything to do with the useless labour government, and house prices.

So's your comment about "violence" - 'cause we're super peaceful over here?!?!

In Britain, probably about 50% of my friends at some point have been mugged, probably 30% have been robbed. Go out on a Friday night and guaranteed you will see a fight. On numerous occasions I've had people in pubs try to pick a fight with me (probably because I'm a big guy). I would see an all out pub brawl approximately every month or so. When I was younger and went to night clubs, out and out brawls involving more than 5 people was an every Friday night occurance.

I've lived in the USA 8 years, and my every day experience of violence has been practically nothing. I've seen one pub brawl and a a couple of light fistycuffs. Noboby I know has ever been mugged. 1 person I know has experience a break in at their house.

I think everyone in the UK has a expectation that the USA is a dangerous place. In reality I think its the other way around.

Of course my experiences are of living in safe neighbourhoods in the USA. Then again, I did in the UK as well.

Haha, hate to break it to ya, but we have teenagers with stupid hoodies and fake louis bags here too... Malls on Sat are freaking packed with them!!! I DEFINTLY agree with the house prices though. I live in one of the cheapest housing markets in the US so its even more insane to me. I know paul is not going to miss the fighting etc. And he claims americans are more polite (when in massive groups) than people in the UK. I maintain its cause of the lower population density but w/e... Also frying steaks, he hates those! I swear he's moving here just for the food :)
