USA resident or citizen wishes to move and become Australian resident/citizen

Hi,

I am a USA resident and will become a USA citizen in 2.5 years time. I wanted to relocate to Melbourne Australia. In this case does my being USA resident or citizen help me in anyway `to get the Australian residency or citizenship.

Plz advise in detail if someone has been through the process and can explain the full thing to me.

If I move I will be me and my 2 american citizen kids.
