Handwritten documents

I'm not sure if purely handwritten articles would be accepted. We did handwrite some of the stuff that won't fit on a pdf file no matter how hard we try. I did hear that it's recommended for it to be computer printed because they will be scanned automatically in the USCIS office. Can someone else confirm this?

As long as it's legible, it's not a problem

Legibility is the key reason for preferring computer-generated forms, etc. If it isn't legible, you may get an RFE and a chance to do it again, and the associated delay in processing.
