Should I cancel K1 petition?

My fiance was recently in the US back in August and September of this year on a B2 (Tourist) visa while conducting a medical observation ship at the hospital here in town. He is currently in medical school in Haiti. When he applied for the visa back in March of this year I wrote a letter to the consular stating that I would be supporting him while here and that I would be paying for all of his expenses, etc. My letter was very subjective and just stated how we met in 2005 while on a mission trip and that he translated for me in 2012 and 2014 while in Haiti doing mission work, which he did. He also had a letter from the vice president of the hospital stating the type of internship he would be doing. At the time of his B2 interview back in March of this year, the consular asked how we knew one another and he explained how we met in 2005 and that we had been good friends for many years. No other questions. At the POE, all they asked was why he was here and he said to conduct a one month medical internship.Again, no other questions.

When he was in the states we became engaged. We recently sent in our K1 petition and just received the NOA1 last week. After reading on here I am now worried that if and when we are approved the consular is going to wonder why he said that we were good friends, but are now applying for a K! visa eight months later. At the time of the interview we were ignorant to the fact that he should have just said I was his girlfriend and not a good friend. He had not planned on proposing this trip, but decided to do so after he got here. We are both very honest people and have wanted to do everything legally throughout this process, which is why he returned to Haiti in September. He was here for a total of one month. We do have strong evidence I believe, with nine face to face visits since 2013, pictures, phone calls, whats app messages, etc.

I am now wondering if we should cancel our K1 petition and just get married in Haiti, then file for CR1 visa with me returning to the states and him staying in Haiti while we wait for AOS. We just don't know what to do at this point. We also have a 19 year age gap, with me a woman, being the older one, which we also know is a red flag. I am 48 and he is 30. We have been together since 2013. Like everyone else on here, all we want is to be together. We have known for a while that we wanted to get married, but always thought it would be in Haiti after he graduated medical school in two more years and that we would live there. So basically our future plans changed after he arrived in the states. Any input on this topic would be so appreciated. We just don't want to be perceived as being dishonest. TIA!

I don't think it's a problem.

If you were indeed friends and since initiated a relationship that has led to engagement.

Now if you lied and were already dating then it becomes a problem.

It's never a good idea to lie to US immigrations. You've already filed the k-1, it's part of immigration record now so no point to cancel it. He lied in his visa intereview, if it's gonna be a problem, it's gonna be so whether you do a k-1 or a cr-1

I was mistaken. They only asked how we met and he told them. I think this whole process is making me paranoid and a little crazy. Lol! He said most of the questions were based around his school. As helpful as this forum is, I think I am just going to stay off visa journey for a while.
