Hey everyone,

I have my EAD/AP combo card and I'm currently in Canada for a friends wedding. When I booked my tickets I thought how smart I was being as I know that in my home town (Ottawa) you go through customs and immigration at the Ottawa airport prior to flying into the USA. I thought "Great I don't need to have a super long layover!" However I realized after I arrived this week that my return flight goes from Ottawa to Montreal then to San Francisco. Which means that I will be flying domestic out of Ottawa and thus NOT doing immigration here.

Now the issue is that I only have an hour and 15 min layover in Montreal, so I'm freaking out as many people have said they had to wait over an hour in secondary!

So has anyone recently POE at Montreal airport with an AP card and how long did it take?

I've looked online and it seems that the day/time I travel the average wait at customs/immigration is 6 minutes, so I'm hopeful I won't miss my flight.

With that in mind, what happens if you are held up at customs/immigration and you miss your flight? Do you have to pay for a new flight or do you get rescheduled on the next available one (any fees associated with that)?

I'm going to hope all goes well and make sure next time that I'm not an idiot and actually think things through.

Thanks for your help!!

It depends on your airline. Call them and ask. Some airlines will put you on the next flight because it was beyond your control. Others may demand you need to buy a new ticket.
