Event Description
Review Date : March 23, 2017
Embassy Review : I had my AOS from a K1 visa interview yesterday at the San Jose office.

My husband and I arrived at 9am for our 9:35am appointment. At the front desk we showed our ID (both California drivers licences) and my appointment letter. We were directed to security (just like at the airport, take off shoes, put stuff in a bin to be xrayed and walk through metal detector), told to got to the next desk (where interviews and infopass people wait) Presented our Id's and interview letter again, then told to go to the waiting room to the right of the entrance and that my name would be called.

The people coming out and calling names come from a door on the far right corner when you enter the room, so I suggest sitting over there so you can here your name because not all officers say the names loudly. Waited until around 9:45-10am before my name was called. The officer introduced herself and walked us down a maze of corrodors to her office. She told us to remain standing and put us under oath (hold up your hand and say that you will tell the truth)

We sat down and she asked to see our ID, passports, birth certificates, and marriage licence. She wrote down some stuff then asked both my husband and I what the others full name and birthday were.
Other questions:
The other's parents names?
When was the last time I left the USA and why?
When did I first come to the USA (ever) and list any subsequent entries? (they were all for tourist things)
(to my husband the USC) Tell me how you met?
(to me) What was my husbands schooling and where did he attend?
What is my husbands current job?
(to my husband) what was my previous job?
(to my husband) Where did I live before I moved to the USA?
When was the last time we saw the other's parents?
I was asked all the questions on the AOS paperwork (about terrorism, human trafficking, etc)

She did not ask for any other evidence and told us that my case was pending and that it could take up to 4 months for a decision and that if that times passes and I've not received an answer to make an infopass appointment.

Just before we left I asked "On the interview letter it said to bring along additional evidence and we have that with us, would you like to see any of it?" and she said, "No I've seen enough."

So she walked us out and that was it.

Of course my husband and I were freaking out as why didn't she want to see any evidence???

But then 24 hours later got a text from USCIS and it was "New card is in production"!!!!

I'm rating a 4 because while the interview experience was pretty intense, the rest of the time all went well and I've got a positive response.
Harassment Level : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
