According to the United States CDC, 3 vaccinations of Hepatitis B are required. First one at birth, then 1 month and 6 months.

If the physician is saying she needs the 3rd vaccine, then you will not be able to complete the physical exam until then....and therefore will not be able to complete the AOS.

I personally know someone who went sent in the AOS without their physical and the AOS was returned.

If she is coming to the US in January, make sure she brings a copy of her immunization card. You may do the physical exam with a civil surgeon close to your home. But regardless, she WILL need 3 vaccines of Hepatitis B.

Above info is incorrect. Won't need Hep B. It is not age appropriate. Only need one in a series of MMR, Tdap/Td, varicella(or history of chickenpox) and flu shot(during flu season only). > http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/vaccination-civil-technical-instructions.html#tbl1

The K-1 medical exam abroad would have been performed by a panel physician, not a civil surgeon. Civil surgeons are in the US. Check her DS-3025, and see this pinned topic > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

I was wrong when calling that panel physician a civil surgeon.

This is so confused, some said we need to complete Hep B vaccine, some said we don't need one. :(

Sorry if I am wrong also.

Yes, I agree, this is all confusing and we're being told different stuff. I took my hubby to a civil surgeon here in NYC for his appointment...I am looking over his paperwork now, and while they did not give him the Hep B vaccine (because it isn't age appropriate, as indicated above) they did indeed draw titers to prove immunity.

Also, regarding the flu vaccine, I've heard different things. Some say its required but when we went to the civil surgeon yesterday I asked how could it be mandatory for immigrants when it is optional for US Citizens? The nurse told me that it was option for my husband also.

Again, my apologies for posting the wrong things.

Check the two links I provided above. That is what you need. If the DS-3025 is complete and properly filled out, then just send a copy of it. There is no I-693 involved for you right now, but this still applies >

Q. Do I have to receive all the vaccines on CDC's vaccination list for the immigrant population, or only the ones that are age appropriate?

A. You are required to document receipt of vaccines that are age appropriate for you. The civil surgeon will annotate Form I-693 to indicate that you were not required to receive a particular vaccine because it was not age appropriate at the time of the medical examination.

Sorry if I am wrong also.

Flu shot is not optional. It is required during flu season, which is Oct. - Mar. See the link I posted above to the CDC site that lists what is required for AOS by age. He needed the flu shot marked off on his I-693.

Q. When does the flu season start for purposes of the seasonal flu vaccine requirement? Since the seasonal flu vaccine is required, do I have to get the seasonal flu vaccine if it is not the flu season?

A. For purposes of the immigration medical examination, the flu season starts on October 1 and ends on March 31 each year. If your immigration medical examination is during this period, you are required to have the seasonal flu vaccine. If you have an immigration medical examination completed between April 1 and September 30, when it is not the flu season for immigration purposes, you are not required to document that you have received the seasonal flu vaccine.
