Visiting Question: flying to Montréal to be with SO for the interview.

Hi! So I know visiting questions appear all the time on this forum, but I never see any questions relating to the petitioner visiting the beneficiary.

When my SO goes for her interview I wanted to fly to Montréal to be with her for the interview process as well as be able to celebrate for being approved. I know if the beneficiary tries to fly to the states to visit while in the visa process there is high chance of being turned away. But being that I'm the petitioner, is there a high chance of me getting turned away? I have strong ties to the states with a career and a mortgage.

Thank you!

I don't see a reason you would be turned away if you have a valid passport unless you have some criminal record that can be a cause of concern. My fiance at the time traveled with me to Montreal for the interview. He had no issues what so ever on the border even though he visits quite often.

It is definitely recommended to be there for the interview as it is a great relationship evidence. Good luck!

Just as another experience. My now wife came to Canada to be with me at my K-1 interview and had no issues at the border. Good luck on your upcoming interview.

My husband and I had zero issues with either of us going in either direction. When he came up for our wedding he was quite honest and told the CBSA he was getting married and returning to the USA for such and such a date. When he came to stay with me for just over a month, again, zero issues.
