RFE, Tax return?!?!

Hey all,
We sent off the AOS packet awhile ago and just had the bioetrics appointment but today we received and RFE stating that we needed to have "a complete federal income tax return for both me and the co sponsor".
so my question is
1. Does this mean that i just go to the IRS website and request a transcript of my taxes? Or is it something entirely different.?

Yes, you can send an IRS transcript for 2015, or a complete copy of your return with all forms, schedules, attachments, W-2s and/or 1099s.

We just sent the W2's.
So if i request an IRS transcript for the past 2-3 years will that be all they need?

Yes, but it is only required to submit the most recent year. Just send what the RFE is asking for.

Also it states that we have to send proof that the co sponsor is from the US. One of the choices list that we can send a birth certificate. So my question is does the co sponsors birth certificate have to be a certified copy?

Also, I've read that some people resend the whole I 864. Is that necessary.... or will just the paper they asked for work?

Just need a photocopy of the joint sponsor's US birth certificate.

If there is no information to change on the I-864, then no need to provide an updated one. You could include a copy of the one you already sent, if you wish, along with the missing documents you are sending.

I sent three years of tax transcripts for both me (US spouse) and the joint sponsor, and got an RFIE asking for the full copy of the joint sponsor's tax return. So personally, I would probably send the full copy of the return as requested, and not the tax transcripts, as it seems some immigration officers don't consider them to be equivalent. I spoke to a Tier 2 officer on the phone about this and she said most accept tax transcripts as they are "official" but some prefer the full return. (Though she also suggested they might have just lost our papers since literally everything they requested, we had already sent!)

I've read that some people have submitted every form they sent in when they did their taxes.
I requested and received my tax return transcript from the IRS website. Is this everything I will need to send in that they will need ?

If you provide a photocopy of your Federal individual income tax returns, you must include a copy of each and every
Form W-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your returns. Do not include copies of these forms if you provide an IRS
transcript of your Federal individual income tax returns rather than a photocopy unless you filed a joint income tax return with your spouse and are qualifying using only your income.
