Question about police certificate

My husband is a UK citizen and the police report from there is no problem to get. However, for a period of about 6 years he lived in France. His current UK employer got a police report on him from France in 2014 for this job. Will that one be sufficient or do we need to get a new one?

Thank you all for your advice.

The police report from France is very easy to obtain. It's called Bulletin numéro 3- https://www.cjn.justice.gouv.fr/cjn/b3/eje20

You fill out the information and give the address to where you want it mailed and they send it (it's free). Start with choosing: Vous êtes né(e) hors de France. You will also need to upload a valid identity document. Within France it takes about 2 weeks to receive, outside of France I would plan for a little longer.

I am aware that the poice reports are only valid for one year, however, I saw a snippet that said foreign reports are valid indefinitely providing the person hasn't gone back to reside in that country since time of report. I saw that on the UK embassy checklist.

If your embassy says so, then you may be okay. Try asking someone in the UK forum who has had to get police certificates from other countries. However, as I mentioned, if you have the time until your interview it is quite easy and it is free to obtain one for France just in case (and for peace of mind).

Yes, that's what I've told my husband. Let's go ahead and get it. I'd rather have an overabundance of material than not enough. The last thing I want to get is a checklist asking for it.
