We had our AOS interview 3 weeks ago for my parents,The IO said there was an issue with my moms fingerprints from bio metrics but that it should be resolved within the week. My dad received his green card in the mail 2 weeks ago. I called USCIS today and spoke to tier 2 and the woman told me that because the fingerprints were not any good they are doing an "FBI name background check internationally" and that there is no timetable for this to be finished.

1.Has any one ever heard of this before?

2.Any one have any idea how long it will take?

Don't they do a background check before the interview? A friend of ours had the same fingerprint issue at the same office, and they just sent out a new bio metrics notice to re do the prints. Its not like my mom doesn't have fingerprints.

What should I do? My parents are elderly and we need to purchase health insurance, in this state we cannot do it without the green cards, which means if my father has a heart attack, they can come take our house.
