I came here on a B2 visa in May 2016 and my USC husband of 8 years (we met in our home country, his mom filed for him)

finally decided to get married in July 2016 and we are ready to file now. I didn't have any help of a lawyer I just put it together by reading the instructions and reading forums. Here is our cover letter:

I am filing the form I-130 Petition on behalf of xxx, the beneficiary. I xxxx am a U.S. Citizen petitioner and xxxx is my wife. Also enclosed is a concurrent filing of I-485 by my wife for Application to Register for Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. Application was filed and signed using the relative/beneficiarys married name so as to facilitate the name change process as she would like to receive her ID, SSN and Green-card in her Married name. Her maiden name appears on current documents such as birth certificate and passport however, the marriage certificate is included in the package to show documentation of a legal name change. The I-693 medical will be submitted upon request or at the mandatory immigration interview.

1. Included in the I-130 package are the following:

-Money order of $420 for the filing fee

- Form G-1145, Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

-Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative

-Copy of US Naturalization form

-Copy of US Passport, Copy of US Drivers License & Copy of US Military ID

-Copy of Spouses Birth Certificate (in Native Language, English)

-Copy of Spouses Passport (Biographical Page) & Passport (Visa Page)

-Copy of i-94 for spouse

-Copy of Marriage Certificate

-G325A Signed by US Citizen & G325A Signed by Spouse

-1 Passport Photo of US Citizen & 1 Passport Photo of Spouse

-Evidence of Bona Fide Marriage:

*Visitor Pass to Military Base, spouse dependent card & proof of enrollment in tricare

*Joint Car Insurance

*Joint Lease agreement on apartment

*Itinery/ airline tickets for stays together.

*Select Pictures of wedding and time together

*Emails exchanged with each other

2. Included in the I-485 package are as follows:

-Money order of $1070 for the filing fee and biometrics

-Form G-1145, Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

-Form i-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

-Copy of Birth Certificate

-Copy of U.S Citizen Naturalization forms & U.S Citizen Passport & Driver's License

-Copy of Passport (Biographical Page) & Copy of Passport (Visa Page)

-Copy of i-94

-Copy of Marriage Certificate

-G325A Signed by US Citizen & G325A Signed by Spouse

-Two Passport pictures of Petitioner & Two passport pictures of spouse

3. Form i-864 Affidavit of Support

-Tax transcript from the IRS for 2015

4. Form i-765, Application for Employment Authorization

-2 Passport Pictures of beneficiary

-Copy of Biographic Page of Passport
