Hi. My wife and I married on 18th July and did a concurrent filing on 8th August. We are planning to move on 17th of October. How much hassle is changing our addresses and her having a new job going to cause us? Will my EAD have been issued by then? Just going by current times...we filed in Chicago. I received all the texts/letters stating they recieved our package. I am getting my medical done next month so we can take that with us to interview as we did not have time to complete that before we filed. Thanks in advance.

The biggest hassle is when they don't get your change of address processed in a timely manner and your EAD card goes to the wrong address and is returned to USCIS as undeliverable. Or your interview letter goes astray. It happens more often than it should. Keep on top of things and check your online status because it will say if mail was undeliverable. Change of address info from USCIS https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange

Change of job- she can take a new I864 to the interview showing her new employer and income.

I was wondering...when you move and inform USCIS, I guess your file is transferred to the nearest field office of where you live, right? Does that mean that your file goes to the back of the line in the field office, as if you had just applied or does it keep it's priority as if it hadn't been transferred?

Over the years, it seems that the majority of hassles associated with non/ missed USPS delivery of sensitive USCIS information and documents is likely due to improper/incomplete/untimely mail service changed notification to/by USCIS and/or USPS and/or customer. It is great when it works out correctly, and it can be a disaster when it doesn't.

YMMV.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
