Another i-864 question (I don't work in US, which form for my dad?)

Hello,

My husband and I (he is Tajik; I am a US citizen) live in Czech Republic, and I work there as an English teacher. I have filed my US tax returns for the past couple years (not for 2013 since I was home with our daughter and not working), and I have the pdf's saved on my computer.

My income is not much (and there will be no savings after we buy our plane tickets), and my dad will be our joint sponsor. Also, obviously, my job is in Czech Republic and I will leave that job when we move to the US.

My question is, which form should my dad use? I-864a since he's the joint sponsor? Or I-864 since my income is technically irrelevant since I won't have this job in the US? Should I even bother filing the I-864 (and sending my tax return summaries) since my job is not in the US, or should I file it so they at least see that I'm capable of working?

Thanks!

He should use the I-864 because he is not a household member with you, you and your dad are not financially tied.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Thanks!

So each of us should fill in the I-864 and send copies of our tax returns (Or is it w2's? I don't have W2's since I'm self-employed), and no one needs to fill out an I-864a?

Is I-864 the same thing as "affidavit of support?" (Currently reading through the stupid RFE thread)

Yep, it's the same thing and yes,m you both file I-864. Tax returns are fine; for you, being self employed, line 22 will count as your income.

The only way a I-864A would come into play is if dad is married and his wife joins her income to his to sponsor.
