Hello,

I have a small inquiry regarding PCCs for my wife's application. Here's the story:

My wife is Pakistani born and lived in Pakistan (shortly) after she turned 16. Prior to that she lived in Qatar, where she spent few years (but all prior to turning 16).

After turning 16, she maintained her residency card for Qatar i believe for a few years but never spent more than 1-2 months at a time there, as she was doing her studies in Pakistan and only went to visit her parents in Qatar during holidays.

1. I realize i dont require PCC for Pakistan as someone kindly pointed it out, so that's clear.

2. Given her circumstances as stated above, would she be required to get a PCC from Qatar? Another thing to note is she no longer has residency permit from Qatar. As stated on NVC a person has to "live" for 1 year in previous residence country after 16 for them to get PCC. So do all her visits count towards that 1 year even though her intention was purely to visit her parents only and never to establish residency... However she did get into country on her residency permit everytime.

Please let me know if anyone can guide me on this... Really I would prefer to avoid trying to get PCC from Qatar as i heard its a painful process and can take a while.

Well she can't have it both ways. She can't claim that she was only there for a few months "visiting her parents" and at the same time enjoying the privileges and benefits of entering and leaving the country as a resident. If she was only visiting, why did she have a residency permit?

Since she was legally a resident, she should obtain a PCC from Qatar.

This is all she has to do

Former residents should write to the Department of Public Security and General Administration, Ministry of Interior, P.O. Box 920, Doha, State of Qatar supported by the following documents:

A letter requesting the issuance of a Police Clearance Certificate from the State of Qatar. The letter should include the purpose in requesting the Police Clearance Certificate, the first date of arrival of the person in Qatar and the last date of departure.

A complete photocopy of all pages of the passport (include copies of all pages, regardless of entries).

A set of fingerprints taken by a competent government authority from the applicant's current place of residence.

3 passport-size photographs.

A self-addressed return envelope large enough to hold an A4 size document.

The Police Clearance Certificate will be issued in about two weeks and will be mailed to the applicant.

Sounds simple enough. There isn't even any mention of a cost.

Hi,

I just recently sent in a request using a representative with all legal documents from the Philippine Embassy authorizing him to process in my behalf. Got fingerprints legalized by Qatar Embassy in Singapore but unfortunately got declined by the CID Qatar saying they have a new law passed that only blood related relatives can actually process on my behalf.

Another option given was to get it through their embassy here but you have to wait for 2-3 months before issuance. That's the only option I have so now I am delaying my NVC stage so hopefully by the time I get a case complete I would have my PCC ready as well for interview. Better get it soon.

Hello Friend,

Did you get a PCC from Qatar? What is the process if you are not in Qatar?

It depends on where are you at.  I got mine from the Qatar Embassy in Singapore. They asked me to take a physical fingerprint from the Police Station. Then I have it certified by Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs then another certification from Qatar Embassy itself. This is just like them putting their official seal on the form where my fingerprint were. Ask for the list of requirements from Qatar Embassy. I remember sending along with it a photo, copy of old passport that shows my working visa and old PCC ( I took one before I left Qatar ). I spent about SGD50 for the entire process. It did arrive in 3 months time and pick it up at the Qatar Embassy.

Hope that helps.
