Hi all,

I'm an American and plan to marry a French man. Our plan is to have him move here to the US. He was planning an "Eat Pray Love" kind of trip to visit many countries before we met. Iran is one of these countries. From anyone's personal experience or a friend's experience, is visiting Iran for a week's vacation a risk to be denied a K-1 visa? Please advise if you can. Thank you.

It means he won;t be able to use the Visa Waiver program anymore to visit you during the process.

He will be asked extra questions about the visit to Iran, and I would recommend documenting the trip (receipts for hotels, car hire, photos etc) to show it is purely a toruist ventrue.

It wouldn't make your application be denied per se, but you'd need additional background checks and would most likely be placed on AP after the interview/approval.

Thank you both.
