Hey Guys,
I'm a 17 years old male. 18 in less than a month. Entered the US as requested, before my 18th Birthday so i'm eligible for immediate citizenship. Got my stamp in my passport and to receive the green card in a couple months. I had a few questions in mind.

Do i need to wait until i get the green card to apply for social security number?
Is the Certificate of Citizenship absolutely necessary ?
And do i need it for passport or ID etc.

No. First, an SSN may have already been applied for you as part of entering on an immigrant visa. If not, your immigrant visa turned into an I-551 (green card) the moment you entered the US with it; it is proof of permanent residency like the plastic card in every way.

Is the Certificate of Citizenship absolutely necessary ?

No

And do i need it for passport or ID etc.

No. You can apply for a passport directly without a Certificate of Citizenship

On the SSN- you likely have one. If none has been sent to you yet, go to your local Social Security Office and ask.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
