Hello there,

I am new to the forums and in the process of assembling my I-129F package. I had a question about the fiancée letter of intent.

I have read on various parts of this website that the letters have to be signed in original ink. Does that mean I should have my fiancée mail her signed copy to me, or can I have her simply scan the signed letter and print it out at home? She lives in a remote village in her country of Romania, and it would take her a half day's trip to get to a post office, plus she does not have a lot of money to be paying to ship a letter to the USA. If I can just have her scan her signed letter and send it to me to print out at home, that would be much easier, but yeah, if it has to be the original letter signed in ink, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi, welcome!

In addition to the letter of intent, your fiancé also needs to send you a signed G-325a and a recent passport photo with US dimensions.

These two documents used to need to have wet signatures. The talk on the forum recently us that scanned copies are being accepted. I don't know if that's accurate or not. Personally , I wouldn't risk it.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

They don't require wet signatures since a couple of years back at least. So just have her sign it, scan it and email it to you. It's both faster and more reliable than regular mail.

You can just search this forum, there are tons of recent filers that were approved with no wet signatures, and no recent filers that got RFEs for not having wet signatures.

When I say recent I mean the last two years or so, if you check older posts you might find RFEs.
