So, let me explain this real quick:)

I met my current bf in June last year when I was technically still married to my (now ex) husband. We were not "romantically" together anymore though (if you know what I mean). We filed for separation in February and will be divorced (hopefully) by the end of the year, so my bf and I will be able to start the visa process.

So when we met and got together I was still legally married and, even though it's not illegal, do you think it could matter in terms of moral? Could we be denied (in your opinion) because I was technically cheating? And could be a problem to have a divorce decree issued only days before filing the petition?

Thank you so much!!

Could we be denied (in your opinion) because I was technically cheating? No. Cheating is not a factor. And could be a problem to have a divorce decree issued only days before filing the petition? Not a problem.

Your situation is more common than you think. Many posters on here have cheated and successfully filed for their fiances a few day after finalizing their divorces.

Cheating is not an issue.

Not a problem, many people seperate, legally or otherwise, a long time before the official divorce.
