execution, like i said.

Abdullah Muflahti, the owner of the convenience store outside of which his friend Alton Sterling was killed on Tuesday, has shared new footage of the shooting with The Daily Beast. The video—filmed at a different angle than the video that emerged earlier this week—appears to contradict the claim by authorities that Sterling was threatening police with a gun.
Officers Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake were on the scene responding to a 911 call about a man, matching Sterling’s description at the store’s location, who “pulled a gun,” WAFB-TV reports. “2100 North Foster, cross Fairfield. Selling CDs on the corner. Gun in his pocket,” the police dispatcher said. “He pulled a gun on a complainant and told him he couldn’t be around there.” The original 911 call has not yet been released.
Despite what police have said, Muflahti told The Daily Beast that he saw no “altercation” between Sterling and the officers until they tasered and tackled him. The video Muflahti recorded of what happened next is embedded below. Please be aware that it is very graphic.
Police seized footage from Muflahti’s surveillance cameras, despite his objections that they needed a warrant. But unbeknownst to them, Muflahti and another bystander, Arthur Reed, had also recorded the incident on their cell phones.
The Department of Justice has opened a civil rights investigation into the shooting.

What I find so interesting is the folks who swear we're becoming a police state are the same folks who give the police an infinite amount of benefit of the doubt. The same ones who say white people are killed more and brutalized more than anyone else are at the same time the most staunchest defenders of those who are supposing killing you off.

What can be said at this point that hasn't been said before? I got halfway through writing about Alton Sterling, felt like I was repeating myself (which no doubt was true) and realized that there was nothing to say that Roxane Gay didn't say in the New York Times:

It’s overwhelming to see what we are up against, to live in a world where too many people have their fingers on the triggers of guns aimed directly at black people. I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t know how to allow myself to feel grief and outrage while also thinking about change. I don’t know how to believe change is possible when there is so much evidence to the contrary. I don’t know how to feel that my life matters when there is so much evidence to the contrary.

This is what happens when tragedy becomes routine. Even with a second video that looks even worse (for the police) than the first, we all kinda know where this is going. It isn't going anywhere. The police will investigate themselves and determine they did nothing wrong. The Justice Department will make some noise and then back out once the media and public have moved on to something else.

After another round of listening to right-wing white men with hard-ons for guns (although oddly enough they don't seem to be leaping to the defense of Mr. Sterling's right to have had a gun in his pocket) invent a reality that allows them to pin the blame on anything and everything but race, we're left with the same problem. That police manage to place white people carrying guns under arrest constantly without shooting them, and that white people openly brandish guns (as allowed by law) without so much as a second glance from law enforcement, has to be explained away with complicated logical gymnastics to avoid the reality that police approach white and black suspects differently. They respond to them differently. Even black police treat black suspects differently. The culture of law enforcement reinforces the idea that a white person with a gun is probably a law abiding citizen who, even if arrested, certainly won't attack police. A black person is a criminal, period, and must be approached with a hair trigger since all black Americans really truly desire out of life is to kill cops.

In this case we've fabricated a tale in which a man with both hands cuffed behind his back and two police officers sitting on him was "reaching for a gun" despite the video showing nothing of the sort. It was bad enough in the days before smartphones when there was no visual evidence to contradict the horseshit Official Position of the police. And now that we have it, we're apparently willing to ignore it and stick with the old system of weaving a tale that conforms to our preferred conclusion, a racist version of the Just World Phenomenon wherein everyone gets exactly what they deserve and nothing more. Or less.

I never said white people are brutalized more I said they are shot more. DOJ stats and fact. The difference tween you and I is I don't care about the race. If the police are wrong they are wrong regardless of race. In the past I have posted several videos of white unarmed people being gunned down.

In this case a super predator with years of violent sadistic arrests who had a gun, was fighting the police. Trying to defend this piece of human garbage is beyond repugnant. All you see is he was black.

The message you and those like you send to young black males, in making this human waste a celebrity is deplorable.

Of course you care about race. Super Predator? When did you start using that lingo? Not when talking about white criminals, that's for damn sure.

This dude was selling CD's at the time of his death, but I've seen here time and time again how you and those like you love to criminalize black people to the infinite degree when it comes to things like this since it justifies his death.

And you're one to talk. The second thread opened by Val? You know, the guy shot and his GF videoed it and he died for all to see? Guess you're not in there yet bc you're waiting to see if you can defend the police's action. Just waiting for his background to come out huh?

Super predator is a Clinton term,

As for the other thread. I am on vacation. Give me time. I have not seen the video, but it has to be a black man , cause no one cares when white folks are killed.

You can't handle the truth. It's your issue not mine

If AS had gotten justice he would be rotting in jail after the umpteenth violent depraved act. Why was this super predator walking the streets anyway. How did he pass the background check to get his gun

cops do not get to execute people depending on their priors, none of what you're going on about has anything to do with that fact.

When someone has a gun and is fighting the police, they are all in.

But really this guy had a boatload of violent felonies and a pedophile rap. Why was he walking the street.

He had a gun. How did he pass his background check.
