My fiance is visiting me in England for just under 2 weeks. He flies in on Saturday and I'm a little bit nervous about border control. The purpose of his trip is because
1) we haven't seen each other since December!
2) so he can meet my family
3) we are briefly going to go Paris then London as tourists

We are going to marry in the USA, hopefully by the end of the year, we received our NOA2 pretty recently so we are well on our way to getting that completed.

I've told him to print off evidence of his return flight, a current bank statement, our I-129F receipt, our travel details to Paris and London and I'm also writing him a letter of support with my contact details.

Am I over thinking this? Obviously he plans to be honest tell the border official he is visiting his fiancee, I'm just worried about this being a red flag resulted in him being turned away. I'm a UK citizen so have never experienced coming to the UK border as a non-citizen.

Any advice would be awesome!

The last time I visited the UK (last year and I'm a USC), I was a couple of questions:

1) Why are you visiting the UK?

2) How long will you be staying?

3) What is your occupation?

4) Who is paying for the trip?

It went pretty smoothly so he doesn't have much to worry about.

On the contrary, on my visits to other European countries, I was asked no questions. Just got a stamp in my passport and was on my way.

I have been to the UK over a dozen times all to visit my now husband. I always told them I was visiting my boyfriend/fiance. Each time they asked:

1) Who was I visiting?

2) What does he do in the UK?

3) What do I do for a job?

4) How long am I staying?

Only once was I asked to show proof of my return flight. And it just happened to be the 1 time I left a printout on my kitchen table at home. He was annoyed that I had forgotten it, but he let me in.

I am the USC and will be visiting my fiance in the UK next month. The last time I went to the UK, the process was very smooth and the questions asked were just as people described above. This time, with the K-1 in process, I plan to take additional evidence...just in case. For example, I have a letter from my employer, my return trip itinerary, and a copy of all the K-1 paperwork filed to date just to show that the USA is our end goal. It's probably overkill, but I will be absolutely gutted if I get turned away at the UK border.

So, to answer your question, I don't think you are overthinking this at all. Better safe than sorry.

They asked me every time--

1) What is the purpose of your trip? I'm on holiday.

2) How long are you staying? Until [date].

Never got asked about jobs or money. I guess young people look more suspicious.
