I - 134 income level

Hello all,

We are just starting out here with our I - 129F package.

My check was cashed the other day and I'm waiting for the confirmation in the mail.

I am filling our the I-134 now.

I'm worried it will look like I don't make enough money to support my Yanyan when she comes here.

I don't own my own home and I have squat for savings.

How do they make their determination on enough support?

Am I up a creek here?

This is my number 1 worry about this whole thing.

I love her and want my Yanyan here with me.

Does anyone have an idea about this?

Thanks,

Paul

The I-134 says 'sufficient income or financial resources'. Each consulate determines what that means to them.

Most VJ members will recommend you aim for the requirements of the later-required I864, as you WILL need to meet those guidelines for successful sponsorship at AOS.

Research the I864 and read up on the requirements for your consulate.

Make sure you make about or more than 125% above the poverty line for the # of members of your household. There is a post here that shows how much that needs to be, I believe about $17k a year for a 2 person household. If it's only the two of you and you make that, then you should be ok. Just make sure you have your tax records for the past 3 years and pay stubs to prove it to the CO.

I think it is around 17200 for a household of 2 persons on line 22 of your 1040. You also need to prove your income is sustainable. I see you are from China so here is a very good forum dealing with Guangzhou and china in general

Your I-134 will not be needed for 8-10 months yet and you will need one that is dated close to interview time within 1-2 months. This you will send to your fiancee along with updated employment letter and bank information if needed. I see that you will have a household size of 3 as you desire to bring her son here.
