Quick question for you guys that are more knowledgable than me. In about 6 months I will be getting out of the military and transitioning to civilian life. We estimate that our embassy interview will be sometime around October and I end my military service in December. So how does that work? Technically I will be employed full time at the time of the interview. So what do I do?

I think what you should think about would be more what you plan to do after you ETS. When you guys file for AOS you'll need to satisfy that affidavit of support with either new employment or a sponsor. For now though, you're employed and will be at the time of K-1 interview and a short while after. I don't think they take in to consideration what you're doing after that until you file for AOS.

After we marry do you have to file the AOS immediately? Also we got our NOA 1 on May 16.....is October a reasonable estimate for getting the K1 complete?

Sure that would be great

Filing as soon as you're able is recommended. I'm not certain on the timeline but there's a tab at the top of the page where you can find timelines similar to your own. Pretty certain someone will be along soon enough that can advise you on that too.
