Social Security number after K-1 entry

In reading the SSN guide, it says to wait until two weeks after US entry to apply for a SSN. Does that include weekends, or is it 14 business days? My fiance will need his SSN to apply for the marriage license, and with the wedding on July 8, we will be cutting it close if we have to wait for two weeks, and then wait for another two weeks to receive the card. Also, I searched recent posts regarding the SSN, and some recent posters said that since the I-94 is electronic, you don't have to wait two weeks to apply anymore. I'm not sure when the guide was last updated - can anyone clarify this? Thank you!

K-1 Process:

12/04/15 - Engaged (L)

12/17/15 - K-1 submitted

12/31/15 - NOA1

03/16/16 - NVC case number assigned

03/17/16 - In transit to consulate

03/22/16 - "Ready" on CEAC tracker

04/14/16 - Received packet 3 by email

04/15/16 - Medical exam

04/28/16 - Interview - Approved!

05/25/16 - POE at Miami

07/08/16 - Married! (L)

08/09/16 - Filed for AOS

08/12/16 - Case received

There's no need to wait long. Check online as soon as entering if the i94 is available, print that, the ss5 form, passport and birth certificate + translation and get to the nearest Ssn office. It should be filled with passport name. The card should be mailed in about 10 days.

There's no need to have a Ssn when requesting the marriage license as far as I know, but better check with your county clerk office and ask for requirements for foreign people.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. According to my county's website, he needs his SSN to apply for the license. But I'll call them to verify.

SSN is required in my state for marriage license according to the State's website, but in reality, there are several counties within the state that will accept the K-1 Visa, I-94, birth certificate, and other ID. Best to ask around, possibly in a different county,
