Hello VJers!

I got married and graduated college in the Philippines. I am now having to arrange my AOS package.

Since I just graduate I understand I still have to fill up I-864 with a letter stating why I didn't file for taxes.

So, where do I go from there... My parents are willing to support us. Does one parent fill up I-864 and then another fill up I-864A? I live with them for now.

Seems so complicated and overwhelming in my situation. Is hiring a lawyer to guide me in this a better idea?

Your replies are greatly appreciated!!

Thanks but before I hire a lawyer. What should my parents fill up? Another I-864 as Joint sponsor and then another will fill up I-864A?

Yes, starting out is overwhelming especially when you want to do it all right and avoid RFE.

Constructive replies greatly appreciated.

AOS is not complicated. You can't skip it. Hiring a lawyer to fill it out would be a waste of money.

You: I-864 as the petitioner.

One Parent: separate I-864 as the Joint Sponsor

Other Parent: I-864a as the Household Member of the JS

Best of luck
