Is it possible to schedule medical and interview close together to avoid two trips?

Hi,

We are just about to start our process with the NVC. We have been reading about the medical having to be at least five days before the interview. However, as I live in Scotland (not close to an airport) I would like to avoid two trips to London. Does anyone know if it is possible to contact the embassy to schedule them closer together to possibly just make one trip? I wouldn't mind having to stay overnight if that was an option.

I doubt that would be possible. They take blood and that has to go to a lab to be tested. It takes several days for the results to get to the embassy from Knightsbridge. The results and notes have to be typed up and then posted to the embassy.

You can ask, but I'm pretty certain their response is going to fall into the category of "not our problem that you don't live close to London". Most of us don't live in London. It's just one of the many inconveniences that this process involves.

you need the five days at least between medical and interview for the results to be delivered to embassy. When the embassy were sending out interview dates there was a good few weeks between them .

I live in Scotland and did the medical with an overnite bus down and back, the interview was in the morning so we went down the day before and again bus back around 3pm. The bus was real cheap, the problem with flights was travel to airport in scotland then travel from airport into london, then the reverse going home- remember you'll not have your passport after interview for airport photo security. It was nice to do some sightseeing once down there a dont expect to be back any time soon after immigrating.

Thank you for the comments. I didn't think it would be possible. They should have more than one approved physician around the UK.

yep one in scotland would have been nice- but maybe there's not enough Scots needing medicals for visas. The embassy doctors are busy but not so busy that you have to wait weeks for an appointment.

Yea, wish there was one in Edi, and that the consulate there did the interviews, but yea, not busy enough.

Personally I don't see why the embassy can't allow medicals performed by our perfectly good NHS doctors at our local surgeries and hospitals. It's all a money-making scheme.

I used to be in contact with someone from one of the smaller Shetland islands who had to take a boat and two planes to do the medical. And the same in reverse. And again for the interview.

And look at the Canadians - they have to go to Montreal for their interviews. Great if you live in Montreal. Not so great for those 3000 miles away in Vancouver. And the Danes have to go to Sweden for their interviews.

So I guess it's not so bad for us in the grand scheme.

I do. Not the actual process of the medicals but the funnelling of everyone through one over-priced private practice in London. The tests they run are very basic. Basic blood profile and a chest X-ray and a few general prods and pokes.
