What letters have to be certified/notarised?

Hi this is just a quick question that has probably been answered a million times by others- hope somone can point me in the right direction! I wanted to know if the original statements (from both the US Citizen and foreign fiance) certifying an intent to marry within 90 days of entering the US on a valid K-1 have to be certified/notarised or not? I get a bit confused as to what needs to be certified.

This too was, and still is confusing, because different websites give different directions.

I say- pay the $5.00 for the notary.

I had both letters of intent notarized, as well as my birth certificate copy.

(Definitely does not need to be notarized, but because it was translated, we had it notarized- actually it wasn't even necessary for him to include Q18 from the 129F Supplement- but we did)

The only things needing notarized signature is the I-134 Affidavit of support. The letters of intent only need to be signed and dated nothing else. Ours were not and had no problems.

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

At the discretion of the officer, original documents may still be required in individual cases. Please be advised that USCIS no longer returns original documents submitted with the exception of Certificates of Naturalization, Forms I-551, Permanent Resident Card, Forms I-94, Arrival/Departure Document, valid passports, or those specifically requested by the officer. Such documents will be returned when they are no longer needed.

That is correct only the I-134

Translations of anything needing it need to be done by a certified translater but the translations themselves do not need to be certified.

The letters of intent need only to be signed and dated.
