Hi! I would like to ask-will a simple letter of intent as in samples will be ok or it would be recommended to add some proof that we are really planning the wedding and have already booked some caterer, photographer and other? I heard that some couple were asked to add additional proof, not just to have that letter where they wrote that they want to marry...Would a letter from a Bible school leader where he is saying that he was counselling us and will marry us be enough as a proof? And the business cards with names of employees and the dresses codes which I got when trying on the wedding dresses in America...? Maybe we should find the Caterer and photographer now, but I think that it will be easier to do together when I will be in America..We also don't know when the visa will be approved if we send it to USCIS in June or July this year..

The brief statement of intent is all that is necessary. Any "proof" of wedding preparations will not do you any good, and might in fact do the opposite (it is advised not to make concrete wedding plans before visa in hand).

Good luck on your journey!

Welcome to the forum.

Please understand that the "simple" sample letter of intent that is available in the Example Forms, is the culminated effort of numerous couples that have successfully obtained their K1 visa. Additionally, the K1 Guide, easily accessible at the top of the forum page in the Guides section, was also the work of numerous couples that have successfully maneuvered their way through the Byzantine USCIS immigration path, and not the work of some couples that "you heard about." The only thing that your school leader could honestly attest to was that he counseled you, and cannot attest to an event that may occur in the future.

Going into the process, no one knows how long it will take to be successful and obtain the K1 visa, as that there are far too many variables and possible obstacles in this immigration process that can delay or derail the best laid plans. Realize that you will be dealing with numerous large government bureaucracies that follow their own rules/regulations and care very little about your relative time frame.

Your best choice is to read and familiarize yourself with the wealth of good info that has been prepared for you at this site, in the Guides, the Example Forms, etc., Be sure to read the actual stories of folks in the thick of the process at this time that are to be found in these fora. Become involved in the discussions, this is a Do-it-yourself (DIY) site. BTW, the general forum recommendation is to NOT make any deposits/reservations/appointments/ticket purchases/formal wedding plans that cannot be changed/refunded until you have the actual visa in your passport, and your passport is in your hand.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
