The question is with police certficates my wife is in Almaty right now but she lived in Moscow for 9 years, so the question is does she have to travel to Moscow to get this certificate or can the offices in Almaty get the certificate from Moscow for her? Any input would be much apprecited because her and I are stumped on this one LOL

You wife can designate an agent in a power of attorney document, and this agent should be granted a power to obtain documents and conduct business on behalf of your wife. My mom obtained this certificate for me and she has the general power of attorney. Though I am not sure if it is possible to grant such powers from abroad (try to ask a notary in Almaty, I believe such power of attorney should be endorses with Apostille to be used in Russia).

Another option is to contact Russian Consulate in Almaty, they can obtain the cerificate for her. It takes time though.

Good luck!

I think you need to call Kazakhstan Embassy in Moscow, but what I know, living in Kazakhstan, you can get police certificate in capital Astana (in main office of Ministry of Internal Affairs)- it takes 1 day, costs about $1 (120 Kazakh tenge), and as I understood it covers all cities in Kazakhstan you lived in as it says (for example)- he/she wasn't tried on the territory of Kazakhstan. Hopefully I will go though that in July before my K-1 visa interview
