Hello,

I am emailing in regards to the ongoing process of applying for permanent residency for my husband. My husband and I married 05/02/2012, and the process of immigrating my husband began. He was entered illegally as a child, so we had to apply for a waiver 1601A. We were approved for this waiver on July 06, 2015. The time period for this process stretched three years although he had his I-130 approved in January 2013. His priority date is Jan. 18, 2013. The lawyer that was hired to handle the case was new to immigration and made several mistakes in the process, and ended up filing his final packet late. We had to refile everything and have his biometrics exam done again. We also had to reapply for the 1601A waiver. For this reason it wasn't approved until July 2015. We received an email from the NVC Jan 21, 2016 with a final checklist for a few civil documents and the new DS260 updated 2013 because the one sent was from 2009. This lawyer has made too many mistakes but regardless we made it to the final stretch. The email with the checklist documents was finally sent correctly on April 21, 2016 and it was received and is currently under review. Basically what I want to know is if anyone else has received an interview who sent their final paperwork in April as well? Also any tips on what we can do to make sure the interview goes well will help, and also if anyone knows what the medical exam is looking for just out of curiosity? Thank you and wish me and my husband luck, he has been waiting nearly 4 years to finally have the opportunity to work and provide legally for us and our two little ones. thank you.

Tips..

Relax. I was extremely nervous myself to the point of hyperventilation on the way to the consulate. Once outside i breathed deeply and thought I had to compose because I had nothing to hide and a nervous demeanor leads to suspicion.

Keep to yourself, beware of scammers outside and inside.

Listen carefully to what the CO asks.

Keep answers short and to the point.

Be truthful.

That's it..

I was reading over your timeline and we seemed to have the same issue regarding the lawyer deciding to turn things in when she felt like it. She had let three to four months go by before doing anything, and that is why we have waited so long. In the end I too turned in everything on my own. We got a response on 05-26-16 that our case was under review of the forms from the final checklist. Now we were notified today that he is on the queue for an appointment and they will contact us as soon as one is available. This was received today 06-14-2016. Hopefully we get an interview date soon :) we are so excited. Just out of curiosity how long did you have to stay in Ciudad Juarez? I read that the medical exam takes a day and then two - three days for results, then he can go to the interview. I am guessing a week but since these things can only be done on weekdays we might have to wait the weekend depending on when appointments can be made...
