Hello,

As some of you know im going through the slow process  of the K3 visa...in Japan. I have a question about police certs. I was planning on doing DCF but things got busy and now it not possible. WEll....my wife is from China but has been living in Japan for 10 years.Ive been here 5 years. We were married in Japan.I got her police certs from China and Japan last year around May... so is there an expiration date for when they are valid. I would imagine the ones in China are still valid since she has lived there in 10 years, is this correct?? What about the ones I got in Japan last year?? Any help would be great!!

Another question..medical stuff...she did the medical stuff last year and the date was in MAY...will she need to do these again even if they are sealed?? Any advice...is the k3 medical different from the DCF medical??

thanks again!!!

Police certificates and Medical reports have a 1 year life span. Only Divorce, and birth certificates have an indefinite life span.

If your interview is later than May you will need new ones from China, and Japan.

You can always get confirmation from your consulate. I've got confirmation from the consulate in Rio by email since in Brazil the police certificates shows a validity of 90 days only. The Rio US Consulate confirmed that regardless of the validity date on the certificate (90 days), they said it is valid for 1 year for them. :jest:
