hey my name is Parsa I'm from Iran and I have lived in U.S for about 4 years for some reasons i went back to my country an now after 2 years I'm going back to U.S and this time my mom is giving me $30k cash to take with me to buy a car .

i was wondering if I bring the money and declare it, are there taxes on it or is any amount of it reduced? the money is from a savings account in Iran and it has payed its taxes . do i have to double pay the tax in U.S?

You are not taxed on money you bring from your country, but the U.S. Government wants to know about money coming in from foreign countries. If you carry it on the plane with you (not very safe) you tell Customs about it and fill out a form at the airport. If you are able to transfer it by wire, then the banks do the reporting for you. No US tax either way.
