Hey

When applying for AOS are regular copies from the scanner at home ok, or do I need to have certified copies of my birth certificate etc? I tried finding answers online but there's so many different answers. What (if any) copies need to be certified?

It's advised to sent a certified copy of marriage certificate. Other than that, everything can else can be a copy (scanner is fine) but make sure you have the originals available for the interview

Agree with response#2. When in doubt, refer to the official instructions:

Copies. Unless specifically required that an original document be filed with an application, a legible photocopy may be submitted. Original documents submitted when not required may remain a part of the record, and will not be automatically returned to you.

and the VJ Guides:

A copy of your marriage certificate. Note: While a regular copy is allowed, submitting a certified copy is preferred as some members have received an RFE asking for this (so if one is available use that instead).

Good luck on your immigration journey.
