Filing for Employment Authorization Document after I-130 has been Filed

My husband and I are both living overseas. I'm a US citizen. Our I-130 has been approved and we are just about ready to file our I-864. However, we haven't filed for an Adjustment of Status (I-485) or an Employment Authorization Document (I-765). Can we file for these at the same time we hand in the I-864 for the interview? Does he even need to file for the Adjustment of Status or can we skip that step? What is the best way to get him a work permit as quickly as possible?

He won't need a work permit, as he will have a green card upon entry into the US. He will be able to work right away. At no stage does he need the I-485 or I-765.
