Hi there! I am a Canadian citizen, my fiancé is a US Citizen. I was wondering if my debts would affect our final outcome at the interview stage? I have about $2000.00 in debt between a past owing phone bill and a credit card. Has anyone who's went through this had to deal with that? Is it ok to leave that debt behind if I am unable to pay it before I leave? Can I pay it off once I'm residing in the states?

I would make a payment plan so it doesnt come to haunt you later but as stated as no bearing on immigration.

It won't make a difference. The key is for them to make sure your spouse and/or you earn more than the poverty level - essentially can you take care of yourself without assistance.

See the guideline here: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf

There is no spouse. They are not married and applying for a K-1 visa.

While we are in this subject, I will be graduating with a professional degree which means massive debt ( >300K). But I will be starting at >85K. Should I be worried? Do I need to have a co-sponsor?

Your debt is not asked about. As was already stated in this thread, it does not matter how much you owe. It only matters how much your current annual income is. If your income meets or exceeds the requirement, then no co-sponsor should be needed(the CO decides though and can ask for one if they see fit). If it doesn't, then use one.
