Hi guys,

So I have searched these message boards high and low and can't find anything that quite matches our situation! So here's the deal:

My fiance is Aussie, and we live here in Australia. We have our K1 approved and are leaving for the USA next month to get married in July back home in US! However we aren't flying one way, we are cruising! A one way relocation cruise from Sydney to Seattle.

We booked this a few weeks ago and have been so excited! But now that I've thought about it I'm a bit concerned for how this will work in terms of the K1 being a one time entry visa.

The cruise stops in some islands and fiji blablabla, but then hits HAWAII for two stops (Honolulu, and Maui) before heading straight for Seattle. I think under principal this should be fine: Honolulu will be our POE, and then we are only cruising to US ports from there. It's basically the same thing as entering Honolulu by plane and then flying to US, right? (That's what I keep telling myself)

I also have read that K1 visa holders are allowed to cruise to Hawaiii and back, and it isn't considered leaving the country. I'm just a bit concerned though because ours is the unique situation that the cruise is one way with multiple foreign ports PRIOR to the POE in Hawaii!

What do you guys think? Worst case scenerio my poor future hubby can just stay on the ship for those 3 days (eeks)! Should we risk it? Or ask the US consulate? or call the cruise line? Ah! Another stress to add to the list. Thanks in advance for any opinions :)

Yes, you should ask the cruise line about where the passengers have to clear customs. They can give you the specifics for their cruise. Once you have that information you can make/modify plans as needed.
