NEXUS Question

Hi y'all,

So I totally forgot but I have an upcoming NEXUS interview in Edmonton next month, and just yesterday we had sent in our I-129F. When I originally sent in for a NEXUS, we had no idea when we were going to get married and just planned to visit each other here or there, but plans moved quicker than expected. Should I move forward with the NEXUS interview anyways, or should I go and cancel it? Will there be any negative effects of me doing either (aside from losing $50 from canceling)? With the K-1 process beginning there is obvious intent to live and stay in the US.

You can have NEXUS as an LPR. Go ahead with the interview. I had mine a few days before my interview.

Get NEXUS. Your I-129F will take awhile to process. Once you go to the NEXUS interview and if you are approved, you should get your card in about 2 weeks. It doesn't affect your K1 application in any way.

If you are travelling back and forth to the states alot, make sure you keep track of all of those dates.

When I was living in TO, I was traveling back and forth every weekend to see my husband (then fiance) with my NEXUS pass.

The only time that I couldn't use during travel back and forth from Toronto was while my AOS application was pending. I had my AP card and apparently you cannot use your NEXUS pass in conjunction with your AP card as you have to go be paroled back into the US.

Hey all,

I just wanted to say that I got the NEXUS card absolutely no problem-o! Told them up-front that I had a K-1 visa currently in processing (the case wasn't approved at that time) and I was in and out in 15 minutes, even joked with the US Customs and Border Protection officer about the poptart he was currently munching on. Zero issues. All the officers for US/Canada did was ask me if I had to say "yes" to any of the questions printed out on a sheet of paper (all criminal-related questions) and I said no to all, and then they took my retina scan and fingerprints and I was on my way!

As IRUNFORFUN said, I got my card within 2 weeks.
