My father is a US citizen by birth and is married to my mom. However they got separated when I was 2 and have not spoke or seen each other since. I was born in my mother's home country and I am 22 years old, is it possible for me to obtain a citizenship although I have 0 contact with my father?

The documents that I have is

Marriage certificate

My foreign birth certificate

His photocopies passport (expired)

Here is the relevant policy manual section. A cursory reading would suggest that you are a US Citizen by birth if your father met the physical presence requirements:

3. Child of U.S. Citizen Parent and Foreign National Parent​ [9]

A child born outside of the ​United States​ and its outlying possessions acquires citizenship at birth if at the time of birth:​

One parent is a foreign national and the other parent is a U.S. citizen; and​

​

The U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States for at least ​5 ​years, including at least ​2 ​years after 14 years of age.​

Did he work a job in the US? If so, can you FOIA his social security records?

Is it possible? Yes, provided that he lived in the US for enough time prior to your birth (as the other posters have said).

You can try a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request, but I don't know what you'd ask for exactly.

Just a thought; one thing to do would be to hire someone in the US to track down the information for you. They'll be able to find his birth certificate and track his school enrollment records. Those two things alone should be enough to prove that he met the requirement. You may be able to do this yourself, on the internet, but to get official records, you may need help. Start with the town he lived in before he met your mom. If that doesn't work, go back to his place of birth or start from anything your mom remembers like where he went to school or where he worked.

As long as there's no reason to question validity of the birth certificate, that should be enough.
