SSN old last name File forms new name

Hello,

I went to Social security today to change my last name on my card but because I am out of status I was not able. Now that we have the money and most paperworks ready I am confused on what last name I should fill the forms. I have a social security card when I had a J1 visa but I changed my name everywhere beside ssn. Should I file for GREEN CARD with my new last name and only the Form I765 for Emplyment Authorization with the old last name, since was not able to change it on the card?

I really appreciate your help and if you have more questions I would be happy to answer so I could get the help I need.

Use the name you want on your EAD and GC. I assume that this will be your new married name. Once you get the EAD, then you can go and change the name on the SSC.

Thank you for the replay. Just to make sure, I use the name I want, my husband name , on all the forms , even on the I765 (beside my ssn is on the last name before mariage) ?
