Hey there, I'm a full time college student who's never been employed, and I'm just wondering if that would be grounds for a denial even though I have a signed affadavit of support high above poverty line? Can affadavit be someone who's not family member such as step father or someone who barely knows me?

If you have a well qualified co-sponsor, you should be fine, though some US embassies are more picky than others. Where is your foreign fiance from?

Depends on the Embassy. Some do not allow or deal with those on a case by case basis. In general, no not an issue. There are many folks who are students or former students.

Yes, but must be a USC.

I heard they prefer a family member from the petitioner way more than someone who does not know them. As long as they are family from the US citizen petitioner you should be good.

I say this because I know a case that did not get approved from using a sponsor who was just a family friend.

Who Can Serve as an Immigrant's Financial Sponsor

The person petitioning the immigrant and any additional financial sponsor(s) must meet three requirements to serve in this role. Each sponsor must be:

• a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident

• at least 18 years of age, and
