Hello, All

I really need help!!! I filed an I-130 when i was a green card holder in July 2015 and got approved after 2 months. I received a notice from USCIS that my I-130 has been approved and transfered to NVC. After a month, i called NVC and got the NVC case number. Later, I became a US citizen and sent copies of my citizenship certificate, Notice of action, and approved I-130 form with a letter to NVC, both mail and e-mail.

It's been over 4 months, and i haven't heard anything from NVC, they haven't let me know if they have already received my request. I keep calling NVC and asking them if my case status has been updated, and they keep telling me that i have to wait since there is no time frame for that. I'm so frustrated and clueless.... I resent everything again as they told me, still no response.

I have gone through several forums with many people in the same situation, but their cases got updated in 55 to 62 days.... Anybody knows how long it will take NVC to upgrade from F2A to IR1? And what can i do beside waiting...?

Thank you for spending your time reading my thread. I would really appreciate any advice/suggestions.

Warmest regards.

Hi nnguyen36,

I had a similar issue with NVC once I became a citizen and I completely understand your frustration... the best thing to do is keep calling until you're able to speak with a supervisor. Once I got through to a supervisor she was able to find one of the emails I sent with the scanned documentation proving my citizenship and she updated our case right then and there over the phone to CR1. Try calling during off peak hours that may help you get through to a supervisor faster.

Hopefully they'll get your case updated soon, so that you can move along to the next stage in the process.

Yes, when I finally spoke to supervisor (Sylvia) it truly felt like a gift from God. I pray you'll get through to a supervisor soon. Wishing you and your loved one all the best on your journey! :)

Thank you so much, I tried to reach a NVC supervisor today, the first time, they said there was no supervisor available, the second time, they said there is a long line, so they will have to put me on a list for a supervisor to call back.

Would you mind telling me how long it took you to talk to a supervisor? I think i will keep calling them everyday.

You should keep calling everyday... I called everyday for weeks sometimes several calls in a day until I was finally able to get a supervisor on the phone. I had about 5 or more supervisor call back request in the que and no one ever called me. I was finally able to get a supervisor on the phone about 1 week after I started calling multiple times a day... with NVC you have to be persistent or they'll definitely take their time taking care of issues.

Hi, ANF2014, :)

I managed to get a hold of a supervisor today and he told me to send him the e-mail again so he can take care of it for me. I forwarded him the e-mail i sent earlier to NVC, he said he got it and he will upgrade it right now. I have been waiting for a few hours but haven't seen any confirmation e-mail sent by NVC.

I believe it will take the system some time to update the status. I'm just wondering how long the system took to send you the confirmation e-mail.

I'm so grateful that you decided to help me, i would never know there is supervisor at NVC if you didn't tell me. Wish you have a wonderful day, m'am.

Hi nnguyen36!

So happy you were able to get through to a supervisor! I believe I got an email either a day or 2 after the update was made. I also called NVC the next business day and spoke to a regular rep and they confirmed update as well. I believe it takes 24 hours for the system to reflect the change... Glad to help, and I wish you all the best :)
