Interview and flight to America

Hello,

Is it necessary for the US spouse who is the petitioner to fly to the foreign country to be in the interview? And is it necessary for the petitioner to fly to where the beneficiary is and fly back to America together? Can te beneficiary go through the interview and the flight to America alone?

For some regions, it is recommended that the petitioner accompany the beneficiary to the interview to show support & add credibility, even if they may not be able to participate in the interview. For others (as in our case), there is no need - in fact, the consulate didn't see the reasoning, since I wouldn't be addressed or able to sit in on the interview. As for the POE, I will be traveling over to offer support and help my fiancee move country. It's not required - I just don't want her to do that alone, since I can help.

You will need to check what the situation is in your spouse's country. It varies.

As for travel and immigration, it's perfectly acceptable for the foreign spouse to travel alone. I will be doing so. Not everyone has the means or the ability to travel together.

For Nepal, it's not necessary. My fiance went for a interview alone and she was approved. She also came to US alone. So don't worry. Just be honest and have evidences ready if they ask during interview.
