When I send my fiancee all the 129-F stuff and anything else needed for her interview time, I am supposed to send copy of bank stuff and (evil) taxes. With the taxes, being up in April this year (which they surely will be wanting to suck up more from me as I already owe)..... back on topic...... With taxes coming up, should I be sending this year's info, last year's, or both? Here are my issues:

> I have the electronic version of last year's file (30 pages from Turbo Tax) but I can not find the W2s. Not like me to lose anything since I have copies of all taxes going back to 90s.

> I have yet filed this year's because I still am waiting for more paperwork.

When I do send her the copies, and I doing the 30+ pages from TurboTax? The summary pages? All W2s and other forms sent to me?

Thank you.

it's either (pick 1)

1. a full return, everything submitted to the IRS - all forms, schedules, errata, worksheets or

2. a IRS Tax Transcript.

as to what and when - it depends.

If the interview is before 15 April, then tax year 2014 plus current annual income for 2016 suffices.

if the interview is after 15 April, then you want to show tax year 2015 plus current annual income for 2016.

Go Get Em, and Good Luck !

To make it easy on you, here's where you request your transcripts from IRS:

https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

I just requested the last 3 year's worth of transcripts (should only need the last year I believe, but better to have and not need...) and I received the documents within a week of my request. Note that there are 2 forms of transcripts - the Tax Return Transcript, and the Tax Account Transcript. Having both copies in-hand, I believe that the Tax Account Transcript has all the information that the Consulate will want (AGI, taxable income, etc.) on a single page. The Return transcript has line items for everything, and is about 3-4 pages per year depending on how complex your taxes are. It only takes a couple extra seconds to request both types, so that's what I did.

... if you have the time request the tax transcript, then the missing W2 won't be an issue. Don't worry about sending the 2015 tax return

As far as electronic copies I can print, I have copies of all tax returns, 20-40 pages depending on the year, going back to the late 1990s. So if I print the complete works of 2013 and 2014, or 2014 and 2015, then it seems I should be set if I am understanding everyone correctly. I can just skip looking for 2014's W2s since all those entries are in the tax returns anyway.

no. a return is not a complete return with out the w-2s.

What is different between that and the many pages I can print from my TurboTax copies?

Thanks.

Then if I can not find my W2s from 2014's year, what are my options? I am shocked actually that I can not find them. I must have used them for something at some point.

Thanks.

I really do not understand taxes, even at this age in life (and I still have a couple hundred more years to go).

Tax transcripts have the W2 included in essence ... taa daa.

Hmmm, okay then. That kind of answers my question I asked Darnell too. I will look at it and hopefully they send fast.... yea, American government sending me things fast that have nothing to do with taking money from me???? Yea...... :)

Mhm, thanks. Will look at it tonight.

Takes roughly a week to get them. Do it online

So when they say "forms," they are referring to W2s and such that my employers, banks, etc sent me last year?

"Tax Return Transcript

A tax return transcript shows most line items from your tax return (Form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ) as it was originally filed, including any accompanying forms and schedules. It does not reflect any changes you, your representative, or the IRS made after the return was filed. In many cases, a return transcript will meet the requirements of lending institutions such as those offering mortgages and for applying for student loans.

Tax Account Transcript

A tax account transcript shows any payments and any later adjustments either you or the IRS made after the tax return was filed. This transcript shows basic data, including marital status, type of return filed, adjusted gross income and taxable income."
