Good Morning,

Wondered if anyone can help, I am completely baffled by which vaccinations I need for a K1 visa. I have tried to use the grid on the websites but get completely confused with what I need and what I don't.

I am 31 years old, would anyone be able to help me? I want to get them sooner if I need them to save time.

Many thanks in advance,

Laura

Only the doctor can tell you that. But I can tell you that my fiancee, female, 30 years old, no prior vaccination record received two shots: MMR and Tdap. All others were marked as age inappropriate. She also had "Varicella exposure" checked, I guess she had chicken pox as a child.

Also, getting vaccinated early doesn't seem to save you time. You still have to go to the medical and they will give you the required shots if you need them. Even though some vaccines require a follow-up shot, these follow-up are not required. (Which I don't understand) They are marked with "B" which means "Insufficient time interval to complete series"

Nevertheless, my fiancee will follow up to complete the series, might be useful down the road if she needs another medical.

Hi Laura. Go read the first post in this London K1 Guide which is pinned in the UK forum. It explains the shots.

Note also that there is no varicella (chicken pox) jab in the UK. If you've had chicken pox and you tell them at the medical they should note that, and you won't need the jab when you get to the US. In my case the nurse at my local health centre managed to find a note about me having shingles as a kid (I asked her to look as I recalled having it). But from what I've read here they general just take your word for it at the medical
